A decision has been reached by the Micronational Football Federation to allow nations to bid to be host nations for the Micronational Football Federation World Cup 2008 through paying for a venue in an area close to them. The World Cup is a real life event that was originally schedualed to be held in Yorkshire. We have however gone back on the plan and introduced the bidding idea as suggested by Lewis (Of Hamland) last year.
The MFF will begin accepting bids as of today, the closing date will be the end of February. We shall then review the bids put forward and shall come to a decision among ourselves. Allowing nations to bid not only conserves the cost for the MFF to spend on trophies, and prizes, but also gives different nations a chance to have the honor of hosting the competition. I'm sure there'll be several nations willing to put forward a bid, especially since so many seem unable to compete due to traveling worries. A successful bid for their nation obliterates that worry.
The bids put forward from now, till the end of Feb need to include the following;
-A proposed venue (The nation needs to have contacted the owners to see about booking, and to ensure it is available. The venue does not need to be booked though, as at this stage the successful bidder is not known. )The location of the venue along with it's costs needs to be included.
- A proposed date (Again, the nation will needed to have spoken to the owners of the venue to see about the available dates)
-The venue must be private,and not open to the public.
-Appropriate for football use, especially 5-aside.
-The proposed venue must have a reasonable amount of space to accommodate spectators and players not competing. (Space for at least 75 people.)
Our Recommendations
-We would suggest looking to simple outdoor facilities, as they are cheap yet very effective. Simplicity is key. The hire of a grass field would be ideal.
-We welcome bids that use initiative and creativity. We are open to new ideas, and openly encourage nations to think outside in the box in organising the whole event, not just the football side of things. For example, there may be an opportunity to have a fete type event on the same day.
