According to this [Government Act 2007] a general election should have begun on 1st January, 10 days ago. However due to circumstances beyond our control (namely being unable to hold one due to the monarch being away) I suggest that we put the date for this election back one month. This would mean the election would begin on 1 February instead of 1 Jan, with all other elections thereafter remaining unchanged with regards to dates.

Oh dear, we failed to notice this.
I suggest moving the date to a nearer time, though.
Perhaps the weekend one week from now?

I'm not sure. The last election wasn't too successful. I felt alot of the campaigning and policies were hastily thought out. I personally think we should allow the parties time to prepare sufficiently.

I suppose that's reasonable.
I had adjusted to the idea that people should be elected based on their past actions, as opposed to how hard they campaign or what they recite on the stump.

So true, unfortunately it seems we have learnt that lesson the hard way.

Any time between next weekend and the beginning of February seems reasonable.

The census will begin on 1st February, and will end on the 8th. The general election will then commence on 9th February and will run for a duration of one week, with the new government being announced on 16th February. Any objections to this?

I do not object, and i do not wish to run for PM as I think I have failed Jamzinia in my term.

No individual is solely to blame for our recent dip in activity. It's mostly my fault through being away, combined with a general lack of activity and new ideas from everyone. Don't be so harsh on yourself Spangle. Everyone deserves a second chance, and why go out on a low?

Your plan seems reasonable.
And Spangle, you don't want to be a Hoover do you?
The President, not the vacuum.

Then the dates outlined above are set. I'd suggest that those citizens considering running for election should begin brainstorming some possible policies.

Hoover was the U.S. president when the depression began.
It wasn't his fault, but the large villages of shacks of the poor became forever after known as Hoovervilles.
